This is something I wish I had thought about when I was starting out in teaching. The Career Passport is a plan for how teaching should help you to develop a fulfilling career. Download it from our Careers page linked to the Teaching page in the menu. The passport has guidance notes that provide simple instructions to complete your career plan. It starts with a personality analysis using the Myer-Briggs Personality types. This is intended for you to have a good think about the type of person you are and think about matching the career path to you. If you are an extrovert with caring traits who is very organised then you might move your teaching career towards a mentoring role or even think about ITT or SCITT tutoring in the long term. The career page also has job descriptions for a range of positions within school if you want to think about developing skills for advancement within the leadership hierarchy. You will also find information about jobs outside teaching that your teaching skills and experience make you perfect for and how to use corporate speak in an application outside teaching.
